Tax calculations should be usable by everyone.
TaxDue is designed for keyboard, touch, zoom and assistive-technology use across phone, tablet and desktop layouts.
Statement reviewed: 26 August 2026
What we support
Keyboard operation. Navigation, inputs, custom selects, details and help controls can be reached without a mouse.
Clear structure. Pages use labelled regions, headings, field labels, status messages and descriptive link text.
Responsive layouts. Controls reflow at smaller widths and remain usable at browser zoom.
Accessible help. Field explanations open on focus, hover, click or tap and close with Escape or when focus leaves.
Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Accessibility is considered in the shared controls, navigation, content structure and calculator-result patterns rather than treated as a separate version of the site.
Using TaxDue
You should be able to zoom, increase text size, navigate with Tab and Shift+Tab, operate controls with the keyboard, and read results with a screen reader. Validation messages use live status or alert semantics, and impossible input combinations stop the estimate instead of silently changing the figures.
Help buttons are labelled with the field they explain. Press Escape to dismiss an open explanation. Custom dropdowns follow the same visual system as the site and retain labelled keyboard controls.
Conformance status
TaxDue is designed and internally checked against WCAG 2.2 AA, but it has not yet completed an independent accessibility audit. We therefore do not claim formal certification. We will update this statement after material design changes or external testing.
Known limitations
- Downloaded calendar files rely on the accessibility of the calendar application used to open them.
- Third-party guidance pages are outside TaxDue’s control and may have different accessibility support.
- Highly zoomed layouts may require vertical scrolling between the form and its result; a mobile “See updated result” control is provided.
Feedback and alternative help
If something prevents you using a calculator, email accessibility@taxdue.org. Tell us the page, device, browser and assistive technology if you can. Do not email sensitive tax documents or identifiers.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within five working days. We can provide the relevant assumptions and calculation explanation in a simpler text format, but cannot calculate or advise on an individual tax position by email.
Testing and review
Checks cover keyboard focus, labels, zoom and responsive reflow, colour contrast, semantic headings, status announcements and the ability to dismiss tooltips. Automated testing supports these checks but does not replace manual review with real browsers and assistive technology.
